Bill Goldberg Talks To The Augusta Free Press

Goldberg Reveals Which WWE Legend He Wanted To Feud With During His Latest Run

Bill Goldberg appeared at The Last Great Colosseum in Bristol, Tennessee this past weekend. While there, the WWE Hall Of Famer spoke to members of the media in attendance about his early days in wrestling and his most recent run with WWE.

Regarding his early days in the business, breaking in with WCW during the red-hot Monday Night Wars, Goldberg claimed he got over at the level he did because he was something different and just happened to be the right flavor for the right time.

“I was the anti-thesis of what people were used to in wrestling,” said Goldberg regarding what made him rare in the business when he first broke in during his WCW days. “I just killed people. It was organic. It was what people wanted to see. MMA was just starting to get popular. I just wanted to be different, and carve my own niche.”

Goldberg also spoke about his latest WWE run which culminated with his induction into the WWE Hall Of Fame during a ceremony held as part of WrestleMania Weekend earlier this month. As he explained, he wished he could have worked a program with fellow WWE Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin during his latest stint with the company.

“He was such a big influence through my rise through the ranks,” said Goldberg of Austin. “I didn’t copy anyone…but I’d like to have shared the ring with him.”

Goldberg added, “He’s the one I wanted to have an angle with.”
