Last night’s episode of WWE RAW saw the feud of Matt Riddle and Seth “Freakin” Rollins continue, with Riddle first helping WWE United States Champion Bobby Lashley retain his title over Rollins. We would then see Rollins attack Riddle later on the show as The Original Bro and Rey Mysterio lost a Tag Team Match to The Judgment Day.
A backstage brawl would then break out later on the show between Riddle and Rollins and Rollins would finally grant Riddle the rematch he has been asking for over the past few weeks. “The Visionary” Seth Rollins then told Matt Riddle that he can have the match any time and any place he wants. Riddle then challenged Rollins to a Fight Pit Match, which Rollins accepted. It was then made official that WWE’s Extreme Rules will see Seth Rollins face Matt Riddle in the Fight Pit.
The first-ever Fight Pit Match took place on the May 27th, 2020 episode of WWE NXT, where Matt Riddle lost to Timothy Thatcher. Timothy Thatcher would win the second Fight Pit Match as well, when he beat Tommaso Ciampa on the January 20th, 2021 episode of WWE NXT.
WWE Extreme Rules is set to take place on Saturday, October 8th from inside the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
