IMPACT Wrestling On AXS TV Recap (07/20): SUBCULTURE vs. ABC

IMPACT Wrestling recently held the latest episode of their flagship show, where the show’s main event saw current IMPACT World Tag Team Champions SUBCULTURE (Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster) defend their IMPACT World Tag Team Titles against former IMPACT World Tag Team Champions ABC’s Chris Bey and Ace Austin and the main event segment saw Josh Alexander provide an update on his status.

Below are the results from the show, courtesy of IMPACTWrestling.com:

– Alan Angels def. Crazzy Steve in a Before The IMPACT Match. After the match, Heath gives Angels a well-deserved Wake-Up Call.

– Scott D’Amore opens up the show and is in the ring as he resumes his role as President of IMPACT Wrestling. D’Amore says that Slammiversary was one of the greatest nights of his life as he joined forces with the returning Eric Young and NHL legend Darren McCarty to exact his revenge on Bully Ray and Deaner. D’Amore then says he couldn’t have done it without his people in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and thanks the fans. D’Amore then reveals that he will be the acting Director of Authority tonight as Santino Marella will compete against Dirty Dango. D’Amore then runs down the card when The Good Hands interrupt. They continue to place blame on D’Amore for their downward spiral, but D’Amore tells them that if they want a piece of the action, they can face off against Rich Swann and Sami Callihan.

– Rich Swann and Sami Callihan def. The Good Hands (John Skyler and Jason Hotch) in a Tag Team Match.

– We then head backstage, where ABC (Chris Bey and Ace Austin) are determined to take back the IMPACT World Tag Team Titles in their rematch against SUBCULTURE. The Rascalz interrupt, who are responsible for costing ABC the 4-Way Match at Slammiversary. A brawl then breaks out until security breaks things up. Scott D’Amore then has security eject the Rascalz from the building so that it will be an even playing field.

– Gia Miller then conducts an interview with Eric Young, who made his shocking return this past Saturday at Slammiversary. Nick Aldis interrupts and proposes that they join forces to prevent the “internet darlings” from running this promotion into the ground. Young hasn’t stated what his next steps are in IMPACT Wrestling, but if there is one thing he can get behind, it’s tradition and the tradition of settling their differences in the ring. Young then challenges Aldis to a singles match and Aldis accepts.

– Jake Something def. Kevin Knight in a Singles Match.

– Courtney Rush def. Savannah Evans in a Knockouts Division Singles Match.

– Trinity proved that dreams do come true after she defeated Deonna Purrazzo to become the Knockouts World Champion at Slammiversary, but former Knockouts World Tag Team Champions The Coven vow to make a statement when they face off against Knockouts World Champion Trinity and Dani Luna next week.

– Jonathan Gresham requests a sit-down interview with Tom Hannifan. After coming up short at Slammiversary, Gresham says that he fought to bring back “rules” in Ring of Honor, yet somehow he finds himself competing in a match like Ultimate X this past weekend. Gresham then reveals that this environment may not be for him before walking off the set.

– Dirty Dango def. Santino Marella in a Singles Match. After the match, the mystery man takes off his helmet and it’s revealed to be John E Bravo.

– While searching for Jai Vidal, Gisele Shaw and Savannah Evans run into the new Knockouts World Tag Team Champions MK Ultra backstage. Jody Threat returns a disturbed Vidal after she carried him out of the IMPACT Zone earlier.

– The problems between Eddie Edwards, Alisha Edwards, Frankie Kazarian and Traci Brooks appear to be far from over as a brawl breaks out between Alisha and Brooks backstage.

– SUBCULTURE (Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster) (c) def. ABC (Ace Austin and Chris Bey) to retain their IMPACT World Tag Team Championships.

– Following his return at Slammiversary, “The Walking Weapon” Josh Alexander makes his way down to the ring to provide an update on his condition. Alexander says that when he left back in April, he promised that he would come back better than ever. Alexander then admits that he had some doubts while he was recovering, but when he saw Steve Maclin win the IMPACT World Title at Rebellion, it motivated him to work harder. Alexander then announces that he is 100% cleared for in-ring competition, but he’s not just there to compete, he wants to reclaim the IMPACT World Title that he never lost. IMPACT World Champion Alex Shelley then goes face to face with Alexander and brings up their first meeting in which Alexander was victorious. Shelley then says that he wants to prove that he has what it takes to defeat the “Walking Weapon”. Shelley then accepts Alexander’s challenge when X-Division Champion Lio Rush interrupts. Rush says that if he wants to become IMPACT World Champion, all he has to do is exercise Option C. Ultimate X winner and holder of a future X-Division Title opportunity KUSHIDA then makes his way out next and says that there is no Option C until Rush has faced him with that title on the line. Out of nowhere, Bully Ray, Moose and Brian Myers storm the ring, attacking Alexander, Shelley and KUSHIDA. Bully wants Rush to join them, but he hesitates and decides to retreat as IMPACT Wrestling goes off the air.
