Your winners and still champions, Green and Purrazzo!
Good match with the commentary obviously laying the groundwork for Purrazzo vs. Grace for down the line.
The usual great Violence by Design promo. Eric Young promised their time is up and they will learn VBD is everywhere. More greatness from one of the most underrated, entertaining stables in wrestling.
Bound for Glory promo.
Backstage, Vincent approaches Impact Wrestling Champion Josh Alexander. He tells Josh it is typical of Impact to put them against each other, stabbing the other in the back. He said that he realizes business is business and this is not personal. He said he can sympathize with Josh. Josh said he’s not falling for the mind games and Vincent won’t be sympathetic when he’s getting his ankle snapped.
Tom and Matt respond to everything happening.
Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champion Karl Anderson vs. Mike Bennett with Maria Kanellis-Bennett.
Some really solid wrestling back and forth action early. Anderson nailed a big boot and chopped away at Bennett in the corner. Bennett was knocked to the floor, where he was all out of sorts. When we returned from commercial, Bennett was in control, working over Anderson with a chinlock. They showed he took out Anderson during the break. Bennett worked over Anderson, who fired back. Anderson was whipped into the corner but nailed him with a big uppercut and an elbow coming out of the corner. He followed up with a rocket kick coming off the ropes and drilled him with a series of chops. Bennett cut him off with a superkick and scored a two count. Anderson came back to nail a spinebuster for another two count. Matt Taven hit ringside but Doc Gallows followed and chokeslammed him. Anderson nailed the Stun Gun and scored the pin.
Your winner, Karl Anderson!
Maria is now banned from the title bout. Good, hard-hitting bout.
Backstage, The Good Brothers meet Scott D’Amore. He congratulates Karl Anderson on the win and says that since Doc Gallows is better, they will defend the titles next week vs. The OGK.
They show what happened last week with Killer Kelly and Savannah Evans. Backstage, the alleged Dr. Ross is checking on Savannah Evans and she may have some internal damage. They are talking care of her. Gia Miller grabs Tasha Steelz as she exits and Tasha promises she’s going to take out Killer Kelly. In the background, Kelly emerges and grabs Tasha in a choke then drops her, telling Tasha that when she ends her, Tasha will see her coming. They have done a good job building Kelly and you have to think down the line, Kelly vs. Masha is going to be a big “worlds collide” bout.
Impact Wrestling Digital Media Champion joined the announcers at ringside.
Jason Hotch vs. Bhupinder Gujjar
Hotch was the 2022 Gutcheck winner earlier this year. Gujjar grabbed a side headlock but was sent into the ropes. When he rebounded, he ran through Hotch and nailed a back elbow. Gujjar nailed a big knee drop and covered him for a two count. Gujjar went to slam Hotch but he raked Gujjar’s eyes and worked him over but Gujjar regained control in the corner and nailed several chops. Hotch fired back and nailed a kick to the head but was caught with a big spinebuster. Gujjar set up and nailed the spear off the ropes for the pin.
Your winner, Bhupinder Gujjar!
Brian Myers takes the mic and said that he doesn’t know when he could give Gujjar a title shot and says, “Maybe right now?” and attacked him. Myers argued with referee Scott Armstrong and turned into Gujjar spearing him off the ropes. Armstrong counted the pin. The announcers wondered if that was official. Gujjar took the Digital Media title with him when he left. Good stuff continuing to slowly build Gujjar, who has a lot of potential.
Impact Wrestling Knockouts Tag Team Champions VXT approach Gail Kim as she talked with the former Lou E. Dangerously backstage. Deonna says they won the Tag Titles and they retained tonight. She tells Kim that she’s beaten Jordynne and Gail can’t keep her from Grace forever. She demands a title match. Gail says Deonna is right and announces Masha Slamovich vs. Deonna for next week. The winner gets Jordynne at Bound for Glory for the Knockouts title.
After the commercial, Scott Armstrong comes up to Bhupinder Gujjar backstage as he returns and says that he’s doing a great job and Myers has become a real jerk. He said that if he’s being honest, Gujjar isn’t the official champion. Gujjar says he knows but if Brian wants the title, he can come to Gujjar and get it.
Impact Wrestling Champions Josh Alexander vs. Vincent
They locked up and Alexander was backed into the corner. Alexander fought back and nailed an overhead belly to belly suplex. Vincent cut him off and nailed a Side Russian Legsweep and came off the top with a swanton for a two count. Vincent worked over Alexander for a long time until missing a knee strike in the corner. Alexander nailed a big German suplex and a boot in the corner. Alexander went for the C4 but Vincent escaped. Alexander grabbed the ankle and cinched in an anklelock but Vincent made it to the ropes. Alexander finally broke clean but was kicked and caught in a hanging guillotine. Alexander escaped and nailed a Falcon Arrow, then a C4 Spike for the pin.
Your winner, Josh Alexander!
Another good bout. Vincent has always been super good and Josh has been in the zone this year. I hope we get to see this rematched down the line with some additional time.
Eddie Edwards comes out for a promo. He said he and Josh will face at Bound for Glory with the title changing in the balance. They will be enemies when this war takes place but there is a bigger war, the war that ruins and breaks the warriors like him and Josh. Edwards said that he’s chosen where he stands in this war and has stood up to Impact and the industry. The fans have chosen to back the machine but Josh has to pick his side. They can be against each other at the PPV but stand for each other in the war vs. Impact and if they do, it doesn’t matter who win. Eddie enters the ring but Heath Miller hits the ring and nails the Wakeup Call on Edwards. He looks at Alexander and walks off.
Backstage, Mahabali Shera and Raj Singh are cutting a promo. Shera is getting better from his injury and Impact needs to take notice. As this is happening something else is going on and we go backstage. Moose amd Maclin are arguing. Moose is complaining that Maclin screwed him over in the match last week. Maclin said they aren’t an alliance. Moose told him they made a deal and to drop the act. Maclin realizes there is a camera on them and tells Moose not now. Sami Callihan attacks and they brawl outside to the parking lot. They grab barbed wire off a fence and wrap it around Callihan.
They aired a Masha Slamovich video package pushing her as an undefeated competitor.
Jessicka with Rosemary vs. Alisha Edwards
Jessicka was having a good old time. Rosemary told her she was too excited. Jessica paired battle paint on herself and said she was ready. Alisha drilled her to little effect. Jessika nailed a big Bionic Elbow and slammed Alisha. She nailed a low clothesline. Alisha kicked her as she approached but was then caught going for a move off the ropes. Jessicka caught her and nailed a Michinoku Driver for the pin.
Your winner, Jessicka!
Some fun charisma out of Jessicka that we’ve not seen during this run.
They aired a video on Mickie James to build to her announcement next week.
A bloody and angry Sami Callihan comes out, still wrapped in the barbed wire, and challenges Maclin and Moose to a Barbed Wire Massacre match at Victory Road in September. Good promo.
KUSHIDA & The Motor City Machine Guns vs. Violence by Design
KUSHIDA and Joe Doering started. Doering easily controlled him and tagged in Eric Young. Alex Shelley tagged in. Deaner tagged in and was double-teamed by the Machine Guns. They triple teamed Young and trapped him in the corner, where KUSHIDA nailed a big hesitation dropkick. Deaner cut off Sabin and drilled him with a knee in the corner. Doering tagged in and worked over Sabin, catching and slamming him. Doering dropped a big elbow. After a commercial break, VBD continue to work over Sabin. Young nailed a neckbreaker for a two count. Sabin was trapped in VBD’s corner, beaten down. KUSHIDA finally got the hot tag and cleaned house. KUSHIDA nailed some handspring elbows but was decked by Eric Young. Alex Shelley tagged in and helped KUSHIDA as they double teamed Shelley.
Deaner was caught between KUSHIDA and Sabin, being pinballed back and forth across the ring. Young and Deaner were sent to the floor. The Guns nailed sliding kicks. Sabin hits a dive on Doering. KUSHIDA took out Young. The crowd loved all this and chanted for Impact. Sabin nailed a bodypress on Deaner, who rolled through for a two count. Sabin nailed a cutter on Deaner. VBD overwhelmed Sabin but he kicked up after Young nailed a flying headbutt. Young went for a piledriver but Sabin nailed a backdrop. Deaner attacked his partners and knocked them off the apron. He went to attack Sabin but KUSHIDA sacrificed himself to save Sabin. KUSHIDA and Shelley double-teamed Young. The battle continued until Sabin nailed Deaner with Cradleshock for the pin.
Your winner, KUSHIDA and The Motor City Machineguns – TIME MACHINE!
Overall, another good show from Impact.
No mention of the Guns working All Out, so that deal may have some together after this show was post-produced.
