#1 Contender Qualifying Match
Chris Sabin (w/James Storm) vs. Rhino (w/Violent By Design)

We head to the ring for the first official match for the Thursday, May 6, 2021 edition of IMPACT Wrestling. We get the ring entrances for both competitors for tonight’s #1 Contender Qualifying Match as both men make their way to the ring to their entrance music. With both men in the ring, the referee signals for the bell. The bell rings and our first match up is officially underway! To start the action, both men meet in the center of the ring for an early lock-up. To gain control, we see Chris Sabin focus on the wrist of Rhino. In retaliation, Rhino slaps him off. Sabin sends Rhino out of the ring with a perfect dropkick.

At this point, Rhino makes his way back into the ring where Sabin awaits his opponent. Back inside the ring, Sabin spins around Rhino with a tilt-a-whirl head scissors. As Sabin runs the ropes, Deaner grabs his ankles from ringside, sending Sabin face-first into the canvas. The referee doesn’t even notice how Sabin ended up on the mat. Rhino takes advantage of this misstep by taking control of Sabin in the corner of the ring as the match continues. Next, Rhino hammers away at Sabin in the corner and maintains control with a Neck Wrench.

We get some back and forth action at this point, the match slows it’s pace as both competitors meet in the center of the ring, butting heads as they both fall to the canvas. Sabin hits a Reverse Mule Kick to attempt to regain control of the match. Sabin follows up with a Manhattan Drop and tops it off with an Enzuguri. At this point, Rhino is on the outside of the ring as Sabin goes for a high flying move. Sabin successfully Dives out of the ring and onto Rhino at ringside. The two struggle back and forth outside of the ring momentarily until they make their way back into the ring. Sabin immediately hits a Missile Dropkick to attempt to end the match.

At this point, Deaner jumps up on the ring apron and Rhino takes advantage of the momentary distraction as he delivers a thumb to the eye of Sabin. Rhino blocks Sabin’s tornado DDT attempt. Rhino and Sabin come crashing down with a massive superplex! Rhino looks for a cover. Sabin kicks out. Finally, Rhino goes for the Gore and Sabin cradles him up for the 1-2-3. Sabin qualifies along with Chris Bey, Sami Callihan and Matt Cardona.
