The round-robin portion of the interim NXT Cruiserweight title tournament concluded last night with a triple threat match between Kushida, Drake Maverick and Jake Atlas match going in favor of Maverick.
The finish was not without controversy though as Kushida looked to have Atlas in position to submit but Maverick lay his arm across Atlas for the three, however, it was clear that Atlas actually submitted before being pinned.
The referee’s initial decision was left to stand and Maverick will now go on to the finals next week to face El Hijo del Fantasma.
Also announced for next week is Mia Yim vs. Candice LeRae.
