Memphis Wrestling legend Jerry “The King” Lawler is about to don a pair of wrestling tights for a special match taking place inside of a different kind of ThunderDome than the one members of the WWE Universe have become accustomed to on Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown in recent weeks.
The WWE Hall of Fame legend recently announced details for his 50th anniversary in the pro wrestling business at a special event scheduled for September 26, 2020 at The Ballpark at Jackson in Tennessee.
According to PWInsider.com, the main event will see “The King” team up with the legendary Rock ‘N’ Roll Express tag-team of Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, as they take on “Dangerous” Doug Gilbert, “Lvr Boy” Matt Riviera, and “Wildefire” Tommy Rich in a special ThunderDome Steel Cage Match.
Other stars who are set to appear at the event celebrating 50 years of Memphis’ favorite son as a professional wrestler include Lex Luger, Koko B. Ware, Sgt. Slaughter, D’Lo Brown, Kane, “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton, Tony Atlas, Dory Funk Jr. and more.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 3,000 fans will be able to attend the event.
“The King” promoted the special 50th anniversary show at the end of his appearance on the new episode of “The Broken Skull Sessions” with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, which dropped on Sunday via the WWE Network.
