Jim Ross has narrated some of the greatest moments in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment, however if you weren’t there to live it, there’s a chance you might look back on some of these moments with a completely different perspective.
“Good Ole’ J.R.” recently touched on the subject of WWE going out of their way to edit his commentary out of some of the most classic moments in the history of the company, including iconic “Stone Cold” Steve Austin moments from the famous Attitude Era in content featured on the WWE Network.
While chatting about the topic on his “Grilling JR” podcast with co-host Conrad Thompson, the current commentator for All Elite Wrestling’s weekly AEW Dynamite on TNT television broadcasts, as well as the various AEW pay-per-view events, speculated that his presence on AEW shows and the company viewing them as competition is large-in-part the reason for the aforementioned edits.
Featured below is an excerpt from episode number 69 of Jim Ross’ “Grilling JR” podcast dubbed, “RAW (MILK-O-MANIA):
“I smile in a wise-ass way when I watch stuff on WWE and they’ve gone back and edited out all of my commentary on a lot of things. That’s a lot of work for what it’s for. Who gives a sh**, who cares?
“I don’t understand that. How do you do some of [Stone Cold Steve Austin’s] great moments and some of these other guys without using the sound bits that the company told? Well, he’s with [AEW] now. That tells me AEW’s existence is very prominent in WWE. We’re not going to put them out of business. I don’t even know if it’s really a war.”
