John Cena In "The Peacemaker" On HBO Max

John Cena Starts Shooting Season 1 Of HBO Max Spinoff Based On His “Peacemaker” Character In “The Suicide Squad”

John Cena is back to work.

No, not for WWE, but rather on his new HBO Max television series, ‘Peacemaker.’

The creator of the show, James Gunn, took to social media on Saturday to give fans the latest update on the new series, which he wrote in between jobs during his expanded free time due to Coronavirus-related lockdowns and quarantines.

“[Five] months ago, while quarantining, I started writing a TV series, mostly for fun, in-between ‘Guardians’ drafts [and] cutting ‘The Suicide Squad,’ wrote Gunn via his official Twitter page on Saturday evening. “I wrote the [first] season of ‘Peacemaker’ in [eight] weeks [and] now, here I am, on the [first] day of shooting.”

Gunn added, “Life is surreal. Let’s go (and go safely!)”

Gunn is best known as the writer and director of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, as well as the popular film, “The Suicide Squad,” the sequel of which will feature Cena as the “Peacemaker” character that is being spun-off in the aforementioned new HBO Max series.
