Kurt Angle On Why He Didn’t Like The Finish To His First WWE Intercontinental Title Win

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle recently took to his The Kurt Angle Show podcast, where he discussed how he loved his match against Chris Jericho at the 2000 WWE No Way Out Event, but he didn’t like how the match ended despite him winning the WWE Intercontinental Title for the first time during that match.

Kurt Angle said:

“I loved the match with Chris, I just didn’t like the finish.” “I thought that the referee being outside the ring with Chyna for way too long, just felt like, a little too drawn out. It just wasn’t, it wasn’t a clever finish, it could’ve been better.”

Kurt Angle also discussed facing both Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit at the 2000 WWE WrestleMania for both the WWE European and Intercontinental Championships and if he had an idea such a match will take place.

Kurt Angle said:

“No I didn’t know that.” “I actually thought I was only going to defend one title at WrestleMania. They came up with the idea to have a triple threat and, you know, add Benoit to the mix and both of those guys would beat me for the title at WrestleMania and one of them would hold one and the other one would hold the other.”

Kurt Angle also discussed looking forward to wrestling Chris Benoit.

“I followed Chris, him and Eddie [Guerrero] majorly in WCW.” “I loved both of their work and I knew that I could have incredible matches with them. I was very much looking forward to wrestling Chris.”
