The situation with Kurt Angle working with WWE again despite being included in the massive Black Wednesday WWE releases in April is similar to what is going on with Drake Maverick.
As noted, the WWE Hall Of Fame legend is involved in the scene on WWE NXT right now. The former Olympic gold medalist will serve as the special guest referee for the Cage Fight between Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher on NXT On USA this coming Wednesday night.
While Angle has officially been released from his contract, he is currently on a 90-day non-compete clause that began the day he was let go. Because everyone with a non-compete clause gets paid for the three months, WWE is free to use them if they desire.
As a result, similar to Maverick, WWE is going to be using Angle this Wednesday on the WWE NXT show, and they could continue to use him if they choose to in any capacity until around mid-July.
