Latest Backstage WWE Update On Giulia’s Debut & Plans For Her In NXT

— One of WWE’s newest signees, Giulia has been in the news a lot over the last few days, first after rumors of her appearing at NXT Heatwave, then her participation in the new Marigold promotion and yesterday morning, news that the renowned women’s wrestler suffered a fractured wrist putting her immediate in-ring activity in question.’s Corey Brennan has provided additional backstage details on her status:

  • WWE officials remain “hopeful” that Giulia will be healed in time for NXT Heatwave, which takes place on July 7 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
  • WWE currently still appears to be targeting Giulia’s debut match at Heatwave against reigning NXT women’s champion Roxanne Perez. However, these plans are not locked in and could change based on Giulia’s recovery from the wrist fracture as well as her obligations to Marigold.
  • It was confirmed that Giulia will remain available to work with Marigold even after starting with NXT. In fact, she has been booked for the promotion’s Summer Destiny event which is scheduled for July 13 – less than a week after Heatwave and presumably her WWE in-ring debut. Giulia has already stated that despite the wrist fracture, she fully intends to compete at Summer Destiny.
  • Giulia is expected to head up the next class of new talent who will report to the WWE Performance Center and that list will also include names from the recent tryouts in Australia.
  • For those wondering if WWE will change Giulia’s character and presentation, Brennan reported that WWE sources have stated that she was signed by the company “for who she is” and that they are not looking to fix something that isn’t broken.
  • Thus far, all interactions with Giulia within WWE during WrestleMania weekend were said to be positive. She was noted as being “outgoing and polite” to both talent and higher-ups. She even was observed to have a lengthy conversation with Shawn Michaels at NXT’s Stand and Deliver event.
  • Finally, in response to Giulia’s relative lack of English speaking skills, sources within WWE have stated that this language barrier isn’t that big of a deal, especially with Triple H taking over creative from Vince McMahon and as evidenced by the success of IYO Sky, Asuka and Kairi Sane who have often cut effective promos in their native language. Nonetheless, WWE officials were said to be impressed by Giulia’s interest and commitment to learning English.
