Latest On Potential Tentative WWE SummerSlam Matches

— WWE’s second biggest event of the year – SummerSlam – is just around the corner and while nothing on the card is yet official with Money in the Bank still to play out in July, there are matches that WWE is tentatively planning according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

— According to their report, as of this week, the company was planning on having Cody Rhodes defend his WWE Undisputed Title against Solo Sikoa while United States champion Logan Paul was pencilled to defend against LA Knight. Both these matches were also rumored for Money in the Bank, but WWE has “earmarked” them for SummerSlam instead.

— WWE is also hoping to have CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam but it was noted that that match would ultimately depend on whether Punk is ready to return and is cleared for in-ring action from his torn triceps injury. While WWE is cautiously optimistic that Punk will be good to go, the Observer noted that it is not a sure thing.

— Gunther and Nia Jax will also be getting title shots at SummerSlam by virtue of their King and Queen of the Ring tournament wins. As it stands right now, Jax would wrestle Bayley and Gunther would be up against Damian Priest, however, Priest is defending against Seth Rollins prior to that at July’s Money in the Bank.
