As previously reported, AEW star Steven Borden suffered an injury during his match at last weekend’s All Out 2026 PPV. While attempting coast-to-coast dives off the top rope, Borden and his opponent, Kevin Knight, collided mid-air, resulting in Borden’s hard landing. The match was halted by the referee and medical staff, and the victory was awarded to Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher of the Don Callis Family. Borden was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment.
During the post-show media scrum following the event, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan reported that Borden was “awake and responsive” at the hospital, and that his test results appeared to be positive.
In a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided an update on Borden, who is the son of WWE Hall of Famer and former AEW star Sting. When asked by Bryan Alvarez about Borden and UFC fighter Raoni Barcelos, Meltzer confirmed that both were okay. He also mentioned that he had not heard if Borden had flown home, but he had been informed that Borden would be able to do so.
The spot received heavy criticism on social media and drew comparisons to a similar move attempted by Ricochet and WWE’s Logan Paul. Ricochet later addressed the situation on Twitter (X), stating, “No, we tried it once and that was basically it. But it doesn’t matter if we practiced it once or 100 times. People have been hurt in wrestling doing high risk and low risk moves. It unfortunately is an aspect we face every time we step into the ring. No one is at fault here. Its just an unfortunate situation. So lets just hope that Steven continues to get better.”
