Legendary Commentator Jim Ross Battling “Blistering Headaches” Following Recent Brain Surgery

Legendary commentator Jim Ross continues to battle ongoing health problems.

In the latest episode of his “Grilling JR” podcast, Ross provided an update on his situation, stating that he’s hoping to resume his part-time commentating role with AEW soon but health issues are currently preventing that, specifically complications from his recent shunt surgery.

Ross noted that he has upcoming doctor’s appointments to address “blistering headaches” that he’s been experiencing since the surgery that are so brutal that they have woken him up in the middle of the night. The wound itself from the surgery is healing as expected, but the source of the headaches is currently unclear.

“I’m proud to be a part of AEW. I still got my playbook, I still got my jersey, I just got to get healthy. We’re working on that right now. CT scan tomorrow, then back to the neurosurgeon later this week.”

“This shunt is problematic. Having blistering headaches. They hurt so bad that I wake up in the middle of the night more often than not, you know, 2-3, 4 o’clock in the morning because I got a headache. I watched too many John Wayne movies over my lifetime to say that I’m complaining because I have a headache. The only thing I could say is that it probably would remind me of, what I think anyway, a migraine headache is. They could be debilitating. So that’s the situation. My wound on my skull is healing nicely.”

The shunt surgery that Ross underwent places a tube inside his brain to drain extra fluid inside, thus relieving it of pressure. Ross shared that he has already had the shunt adjusted three times since the surgery to alleviate the pain to no avail. The original surgery was needed after Ross struggled with balance issues that led to multiple falls.
