— Vince McMahon fired Big Cass in Toledo prior to Smackdown. Apart from the reasons already documented, he also blew off a rehearsal for a promo that Kevin Dunn had asked him to do and then he went really long on the live version of that promo.
— There was said to be significant heat regarding that promo which Vince McMahon ended up hating and McMahon actually fired the writer of the promo a few weeks ago as well. McMahon and other WWE producers also gave Cass a lot of blame for his programs in the past with The Big Show as well as his recent one with Daniel Bryan.
— It is also being reported that Cass had “enemies” from years back while being a Donald Trump supporter and getting into an argument with Sami Zayn about the treatment of Muslims. This didn’t have anything directly to do with his firing but ruffled a lot of feathers backstage.
— The beginning of the end for Big Cass in WWE was indeed at the May 1 Smackdown in Montreal when he defied company orders and beat down on the little person. The script had been laid out where Cass was to deliver only a big boot but he went to officials asking if he could do a beatdown as well.
— When he was told that he couldn’t, Cass went directly to Vince McMahon who also nixed his idea. As we saw, Cass ended up going into business for himself and started throwing punches on the little person after delivering the boot. The belief is that whatever direction his storyline with Daniel Bryan was headed, it all changed after that and is likely the reason he was jobbed out via submission on two straight PPVs.
