“The King of Bros” may also soon be crowned “The King of Sarcasm,” as WWE NXT Superstar Matt Riddle posted an interesting comment after a week that saw him make headlines at first for all the wrong reasons before ultimately turning things around and gaining positive press.
Riddle took to Twitter this morning to comment on the last week of his WWE career. Riddle had a poor showing at this year’s Royal Rumble match, entering at #23 and being tossed 90 seconds later by King Corbin.
This, of course, was followed by the news that Riddle was involved in a legitimate “tense backstage altercation” with fellow former UFC fighter Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble PPV, which served as the explanation for his poor showing in WWE’s popular annual gimmick match.
He did, however bounce back on this week’s episode of NXT On USA when he and partner Pete Dunne, now collectively known as The BroserWeights, defeated NXT UK’s Grizzled Young Veterans — James Drake and Zack Gibson — to win the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag-Team Classic Tournament.
With the win, The BroserWeights secured the next title shot at current NXT World Tag-Team Champions Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly at NXT TakeOver: Portland 2020.
“What a week for the Bro,” wrote Riddle. “Started off a little bumpy at the Rumble but then it did a complete 360 when Pete and myself won the Dusty Cup,” he added, which would seem to indicate that things went from bumpy all the way … back to bumpy again (a complete 180 would be the opposite). “Enjoy these photos of The BroserWeights and our success.”
Check out the tweet from “The King of Bros,” which may or may not be of sarcastic nature in tone, below. You be the judge and let us know what you think Matt Riddle’s intentions were with his tweet by posting in our eWrestling Disqus Comments Section directly below this article.
