As noted, Matt Sydal recently appeared as a guest on the Wrestling Inc Daily podcast for an interview with Raj Giri talking about his recent AEW debut.
Sydal, who squares off against Shawn Spears in the AEW Late-Night Dynamite one-hour special next Tuesday, September 22, 2020, revealed during the conversation with Giri some of the behind-the-scenes advice that Paul “Triple H” Levesque would give him while he was working on the WWE NXT brand.
According to Sydal, the advice and things that Triple H would tell him to work and focus on turned out to essentially be the formula for what the entire black-and-gold brand has become today.
“Triple H was so generous to me with his time and his knowledge when I was like the young up-and-comer wrestling Chavo [Guerrero] at every live event [and] after our matches, he would come back and give me just a list of things to work on,” said Sydal. “Which is exactly what I see going on in NXT, like how they’re adopting a high-flyer style to the WWE audience.”
He continued, “Basically, how WWE, NXT does their stuff is the advice that Triple H was giving me, and that’s great, but It includes a lot of assumptions. They’re not necessarily false, but they don’t have to be true either.”
