Mick Foley Talks RAW Return & WWE 24/7 Title (5/21/2019)

Mick Foley Claims He Failed To Deliver On His RAW Promo, Talks 24/7 Title Reaction

Following his appearance on Monday night’s post-WWE Money In The Bank 2019 episode of WWE RAW at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York, Mick Foley took to social media to comment on the experience.

As seen on Monday night’s show, “The Hardcore Legend” introduced the brand new WWE 24/7 Championship, an extension of the old WWE Hardcore Championship he infamously held during WWE’s Attitude Era.

After his appearance on the show, the WWE Hall Of Famer posted his thoughts on Twitter in response to a tweet from former WWE and Impact Wrestling Superstar “The Pope” Elijah Burke.

Pope wrote, “Watched the 24/7 Title announcement [with Mick Foley] at least 3 times, can’t seem to figure out why the crowd boo’d,” wrote Burke. “Mick’s promo was great, had passion & delivery was on point. Even got in the classic ‘cheap pop.’ I wonder what made the crowd go sour? Hmmm~PHS.”

According to “Mrs. Foley’s baby boy” himself, he feels he “came up pretty short” in his promo on the red-brand show this week.

“Pope — I think the crowd was hoping for the return of the classic Hardcore Title,” said Foley in response to Burke’s tweet. “Thanks for the compliment, but I felt like I came up pretty short on that promo.”

Foley added, “No one’s fault but my own.”

In another Twitter reaction, Foley went back-and-forth with a fan on Twitter to talk more about the appearance.

The fan commented on the reaction to the WWE 24/7 Championship announcement Foley made on RAW and wrote, “I think the crowd had different expectations as you mentioned but as the night progressed and folks saw the possibilities of the 24/7 rule, they warmed to it. Social media will play a big part to making it special and fun. And you gave it to us! Thanks Mick.”

Foley wrote back to the fan, “Yes, I think the audience will begin enjoying the 24/7 aspect pretty quickly. I just wish I had kicked it off with a better promo.”
