Monday Night Raw Season Premiere Quick Recap for Oct. 10, 2022

Matches Tonight: Six (44 minutes)
  • Singles Match: Johnny Gargano vs Austin Theory. Solid match between the two former NXT stable-mates. Gargano picked up the win with the One Final Beat. 8:29-8:38pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Rey Mysterio vs Chad Gable w/ Otis. Rey won despite the Judgment Day’s attempt to distract. 8:45-8:53pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Candice LeRae vs Bayley. LeRae stole the win, shocking Bayley. Then Damage CTRL beat the tar out of her for three minutes post-match. 9:24-9:30pm EST.
  • Squash Match: Omos vs Chico & Joseph Torres. As one would expect, Omos squashed the local talent easily. Crediting the match time at one minute is being quite liberal. 9:50-9:50pm EST.
  • United States Championship Match: Bobby Lashley(c) vs Seth Rollins. Lashley, injured and beaten badly by Brock Lesnar prior to the match, was goaded into fighting despite that by Rollins. Rollins hit every signature in his playbook and picked up the win in a short, but exciting match. 10:18-10:21pm EST.
  • Singles Main Event Match: Matt Riddle vs Sami Zayn. Solid match that saw Riddle pull off the win (but the Honorary Uce looked great in the match). 10:35-10:52pm EST.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
  • The Bloodline Came, They Saw, and…: Took 8:05-8:11 to make their way to the entrance, pose, and pick up a mic. Roman started a promo, targeted Jey for failing last Friday night, and then agreed to let Sami Zayn “handle” Jey as he promised last week. Sami vouched for Jey, attempted to calm him down. Riddle came out, challenged Roman to a match–he declined. Sami Zayn challenged Riddle to a match, egged on by Jey Uso, setting up our main event later tonight. 8:05-8:19pm EST.
  • The Judgment Day: Dom & Rhea showed up to beat Rey down after his match. A 3 minute commercial break took place, we returned, and The Judgment Day bragged about making Edge say “I Quit” (by threatening his wife with bodily harm). AJ Styles came out and reformed The OC with a returning Gallows & Anderson!. 8:53-9:14pm.
  • The Miz, Maryse & Dexter Lumis: The Miz was presented with big balls by Maryse for a birthday gift; Lumis attacked, used a butcher knife to slash the Miz’s balls, and later in the night a match was set up for next week (see below). 9:38-9:44pm EST.
  • The OC are Back: The OC/the Good Brothers/Gallows & Anderson made their return, aligning with AJ Styles against the Judgment Day.
  • The Beast is Back: Brock Lesnar returned, interrupting Bobby Lashley, and said perhaps two sentences before destroying Lashley with a pair of F5’s book-ending a German Suplex. 10:03-10:10pm EST.
  • DX’s 25th Anniversary Celebration: Triple H, X-Pac, HBK and “Road Dogg” Jesse James ended our program with a feel-good moment. They sent glow sticks and shirts out into the crowd, had lots of pyro, and made cracks about their age (“D-Geriatric X” was my fave). 10:53-11:00
  • This Friday on SmackDown: Fallout from Extreme Rules; they’ve teased more Bray Wyatt when SmackDown airs live Friday from New Orleans.
  • Tomorrow Night on NXT: Nikkita Lyons & Zoey Stark in tag team action. Axiom vs Nathan Frazer in the final match of a best-of-three series, and the next Superstar added to the North American Championship Ladder Match at Halloween Havoc will be determined/announced. NXT Champion Bron Breakker opens our show in singles, non-title action against Javier Bernal. Alba Fyre (fka Kay Lee Ray) is set to take on Jacy Jayne of Toxic Attraction, and Nathan Frazer & Axiom (fka A-Kid) have the final match in their best-of-three series with a spot in the upcoming North American Championship ladder match at Halloween Havoc also on the line. Also in singles action are Wes Lee and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, who’re on a collision course after a war of words last week.
  • Next Week on Raw: The Miz vs Dexter Lumis: the Miz wins and Lumis is out, but if Lumis wins he gets a Raw contract. And the Miz’s giant balls (props). Elias returns to Raw next week! No update on Ezekiel’s status so far.
