More Backstage News On Andrade’s Release From WWE; Possible Return To AEW

As previously reported, Andrade was released from WWE last week, which led to speculation among fans about the reasons behind his early exit from the company.

According to Jon Alba from Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown, Andrade’s release was the result of a disciplinary decision. Multiple sources informed the outlet that Andrade had at least one wellness policy violation during his most recent tenure with WWE.

Furthermore, Dave Meltzer reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there was internal frustration regarding Andrade’s lack of improvement in his English. There was a sense of buyer’s remorse within WWE, as they had hoped that bringing Andrade back from AEW would spark a similar reaction to what they experienced with Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. However, fans did not respond in the same way to Andrade after his return.

As for Andrade’s next steps, Meltzer noted that he has options to go to NJPW or CMLL, where he would likely be a big star. However, he is accustomed to earning more money than these promotions typically offer, which makes returning to AEW a more viable option for him.

Meltzer stated that if Andrade garners interest from AEW, it increases the likelihood that WWE will eventually want him back. This situation often creates complications for AEW when they sign talent that WWE has released, although Swerve Strickland is a notable exception. There is a clear opportunity for Andrade to return to AEW as he could reunite with RUSH in LFI, given that they were original members of the faction.

Meltzer also mentioned that Tony Khan booked Andrade fairly strongly during his final month in AEW, not anticipating that Andrade would leave to return to WWE. It raises the question of whether Khan felt that Andrade had given him the impression he would remain with AEW, only to leave for WWE, and how that perception might affect Khan’s willingness to bring Andrade back to the company.
