More Details Emerge Of Last Week’s WWE Staff Cuts

— Last week, WWE initiated a round of staff cuts and layoffs that didn’t affect talent but rather office staff with many of the employees who were released having been with the company for years, sometimes decades. PWInsiderelite.com has more details on some of those releases:

  • It is believed that 10 long-standing employees were laid off across various WWE departments.
  • Internally, the most shocking release was Kristin Prouty, who had been associated with WWE for almost 25 years and was the original Casting Director for WWE’s first ever “Diva Search” which was won by Christy Hemme. She was officially employed by WWE since 2005 and her most recent title was SVP, Entertainment Relations and in her role, one of her responsibilities was to engage with the entertainment world and liaise between them and talents to join TV series, red carpet events, etc. She would also be responsible for locking in celebrities for guest appearances for storylines and is credited with bringing in The Bellas and The Miz into WWE.
  • Beth Fisher, Head of WWE Corporate Social Responsibility, was another high-ranking executive let go. At one point, she was so highly regarded that she reported straight into WWE CEO at the time, Vince McMahon.
  • Kristen Velez, who worked as a Manager in Talent Relations under Kevin Dunn for many years was also exited last week. She had been with WWE since 2001.
  • Other departments hit with the layoffs include Travel and Marketing. Earlier in the month, Steve Rubin (Senior Director, TV Event Relations) and Michael Levin (VP, International Events and GM of Emerging Markets) were both released. Most of these exits are believed to be directly in response to Endeavor’s efforts to consolidate WWE and UFC departments.
