Renee Young WWE Departure Updates

More Details on Renee Young’s Impending Departure From WWE & Where She May End Up

More details have surfaced regarding one of the bigger pro wrestling stories that broke in what has been a week filled with big news from the world of pro wrestling.

As reported earlier in the week, WWE on-air personality Renee Young is set to leave the company, having given her notice to last week.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Young had two deals in place – one with FOX for “WWE Backstage” that was cancelled when the show was shelved and another with WWE directly in which she could give her notice to leave at any time. Young will be finishing up with the company this weekend as she agreed to work through SummerSlam.

The reasons for her leaving are not entirely clear, but the WON seems to suggest that it could be tied to the way her recent COVID-19 diagnosis was handled within the company. Young went public with her positive test without the company’s approval or even knowledge and after that news came out, no top officials contacted her for several days to check in on her health and status.

Where she ends up next is anyone’s guess, but both FOX and ESPN have an interest in her and some even though she was going to be leaving WWE for ESPN in the past. A move to AEW where her husband works is also very possible, but nobody in that company knew she was going to leave WWE until after the news broke online.

Young has been working on a cookbook and has been presented several other offers and she has even dabbled in some acting before too. One source notes that her joining AEW is likely inevitable but that it probably won’t be anytime soon as she is said to have a “serious” non-compete clause as part of her WWE contract.

We will keep you posted here at eWrestling.com as any additional information surfaces regarding Renee Young’s WWE departure and her future plans.
