More On WWE Distancing Itself From Vince McMahon; News On Stephanie’s Appearance

— WWE ushered in a new era at WrestleMania 40 and they made sure to publicize it as much as possible. While not stated directly, the obvious inference is that it was a clear attempt to distance the company from Vince McMahon and the ongoing scandal that he is involved in.

— Fightfulselect.com reports that people within WWE confirmed that the “new era” statements were indeed a reference that Vince is not only gone from the company but that there is no way for him to return and that WrestleMania and all shows moving forward would have zero influence from either. With McMahon gone, many of his rules and standards are gone too.

— According to one person in WWE, “pro wrestling” is no longer considered a “dirty” word and in fact, there are very few words that people are advised to avoid. One rule that has been implemented though is that Vince McMahon is not to be referenced by name on any WWE programming nor is his name to be featured in archived footage if it can be avoided as the company tries its best to distance themselves from McMahon.

— Stephanie McMahon meanwhile was welcomed back with open arms and apart from a backstage visit at Survivor Series in 2023, she has stayed away after Vince powered his back into the company. While Stephanie was indirectly named in the Janel Grant lawsuit as “Corporate Officer Number 3”, WWE had no reservations in bringing her back with full support from TKO as it’s unclear what her role was but by deciding to come back at WrestleMania, Stephanie made publicly very clear which side she is on. It remains to be seen whether Stephanie will be brought back in any sort of executive role, however, it is believed that if that were to happen, it would be received positively by staff and talent.
