— Fightfulselect.com is reporting that several wrestlers are speculating that Pat McAfee could be back with WWE soon, possibly as early as tonight’s Royal Rumble by competing in the men’s match.
— Dana Brooke was heard speaking as if he was going to be competing in the Royal Rumble. Shotzi is also planned for the match.
— Several talent outside of WWE had reached out to the company about participating in tonight’s matches but were reportedly turned down. The message that these talents received were that WWE was more focused on active talent however, there was an internal pitch to have some “unconventional surprises” during the matches.
— PWinsider.com reports that Charlotte Flair is not in San Antonio and will not be part of tonight’s event in any capacity. However, WWE did film a Charlotte/Sonya Deville segment.
— Ronda Rousey was not expected for the Royal Rumble after dropping her title last month, but sources wouldn’t rule it out completely.
— Edge and Beth Phoenix are both in town for the Rumble but it’s unclear if they will be making on-camera appearances. Edge was expected to wrestle Finn Balor in a match but that obviously didn’t happen while there were also rumors Edge and Phoenix would team up to take on Balor and Rhea Ripley next month.
