In a new interview with the Hollywood Reporter, twin filmmakers Jonathan and Justin Gajewski speak about their upcoming biopic on the late Rocky Johnson.
The film, entitled Ring King covers the illustrious life of the WWE Hall Of Fame wrestling legend. The movie follows “Soul-man” Rocky’s life-and-career from breaking into the pro-wrestling scene in 1964 all the way to being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by his son, future WWE Hall Of Famer and one of the biggest movie stars of all-time — Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in 2008.
The Gajewski’s state that Johnson’s passing was heartbreaking for them, but they plan on pushing forward to tell his inspiring story to the masses / general public:
“The world lost a legend when Rocky passed. His passing was heartbreaking for us. Rocky was eager to share his story with the world. He wanted to impart his work ethic, values and entertainment mentality to inspire people the way it has inspired and motivated everyone who he has imparted these vital lessons to. He faced many hardships and learned valuable lessons through those hardships, that he wanted to pass on to help anyone facing similar situations. It was a great honor to have had the privilege of going over his story and him imparting to us the way he wanted his story to be told. It’s very rare to have the influence of the person the biopic is being made about, so richly impact the development of it.”
Johnson passed away on January 15th from a massive heart attack caused by a blood clot in his leg. He was 75.
