News: Andrade Possibly Out Of Wrestling For One Year Due To Violating WWE Contract

As reported earlier today, former WWE star Andrade has been absent from AEW Dynamite due to a potential legal situation with WWE that involves a non-compete clause.

It was originally assumed that after Andrade was fired for violating WWE’s Wellness Policy, he would be free to sign or appear anywhere else and everyone thought as much since he immediately showed up on AEW Dynamite and started a feud with Kenny Omega while joining the Callis Family.

Since then though, Andrade has not appeared on TV, no mention has been made of him and speculation suggested that WWE has enforced the non-compete clause with no details surrounding how long it may be for.

PWInsiderelite.com though is reporting that the word making its way to “lucha circles” is that Andrade could be frozen out of wrestling by WWE for one year as he technically was in breach of his contract when violating the Wellness Policy leading to his termination.

Bryan Alvarez on f4wonline.com noted that the new TKO contracts have a one-year non-compete embedded in the agreement if the wrestler is fired with cause or due to breach:

“We have it confirmed through multiple sources that the new TKO contracts have a clause where if you are fired, there is a one-year non-compete. The older contracts had this but it’s standard now. This is the hold-up involving Andrade.”

It would of course be contingent of WWE being able to enforce that stipulation in a legal setting and/or whether Andrade could successfully challenge that in a court of law so stay tuned.
