“The Submission Magician” Shayna Baszler and “The Baddest Woman On The Planet” Ronda Rousey both have an extensive MMA background, which is why their match at last Saturday night’s WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event was contested under MMA rules. In their match, Baszler and Rousey tried to recreate an MMA type of fight with the addition of strikes, submissions and clinching. They also had spots where they did ten counts as they tried to implement the fighting aspect more than the pro wrestling aspect.
Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted that there were some issues between WWE, Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey regarding the layout of the MMA Rules Match and even mentioned that there are no ten counts in MMA fights after knockdowns, which Baszler and Rousey included in their matchup. The MMA Rules Match, which is believed to be Ronda’s last match for the time being as she will be going on a hiatus, saw a huge victory for The Queen Of Spades.
