It looks as though the singles match pitting "The Viper" Randy Orton against former WWE NXT double-champion "Limitless" Keith Lee is more significant than it seems.
The Randy Orton vs. Keith Lee match scheduled for tonight's WWE Payback pay-per-view is something that was covered in great detail in the latest issue Wrestling Observer Newsletter at F4WOnline.com, as the bout has potential WrestleMania 37 implications.
In the newsletter written by longtime pro wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, it was suggested that WWE’s direction for next year’s WrestleMania 37 event is likely to have an impact on the finish of the Orton-Lee match at tonight's WWE Payback PPV, as the plan at one point was for Orton to go into WrestleMania 37 to face Edge as the champion.
The best scenario still seems to be for Lee to win tonight at the WWE Payback match, and then for Orton to eventually win the title from Drew McIntyre, setting up WWE to book Lee vs. Orton title matches for late 2020 and/or early 2021.
As noted before, WWE has envisioned Lee as one of the top babyfaces on Raw likely through 2021.
