— As noted, WWE held a staff meeting today after the announcement that the company has been sold to Endeavor and will be uniting with UFC as a joint sports entertainment entity. Below are highlights of what was said:
- WWE CEO Nick Khan and CFO Frank Riddick led the meeting with CCO Paul “HHH” Levesque joining in via phone. WWE’s CHRO (Chief Human Resource Officer) Suzette Ramirez-Carr also participated.
- Khan opened the call by reading an email sent by Vince McMahon that was already shared with employees.
- It was noted that WWE’s Board of Directors has unanimously voted this weekend to approve the transaction. Riddick stated that the agreement between Endeavor and WWE is signed and the company is has begun preparing and filing all the related paperwork. He put the timeline of the deal officially closing before the end of 2023.
- Levesque spoke on the phone and thanked all employees for their contributions, dedication and passion. He said that drive has led everyone to this moment and where they are as a company.
- Levesque put over Endeavor and noted that when they bought UFC they did not get involved in any of the day-to-day business so he believes they won’t be involved with WWE’s creative process, the talent relations aspect or production of TV or PLEs. He reiterated that he is very excited about this move and that it is a positive for everyone and the company. He stressed that it’s business as usual with no major imminent changes.
- Nick Khan thanked Levesque and also Kevin Dunn. He stated what was already known – that a transition team is being assembled to assist in the process of the Endeavor takeover. He ended the call by making a job about Vince’s new mustache.
— WWE also held a short, separate meeting with talent/wrestlers that took place at approximately 4 PM ET. The main topic there was again to stress that the Endeavor means little change for the day-to-day runnings of the business. They also talked about this weekend’s record-breaking WrestleMania numbers.
