NXT TV Preview For Tonight (5/29/2019)

NXT TV Preview (5/29): ‘Go-Home’ Show For This Saturday’s NXT TakeOver XXV Special

WWE returns to the WWE Network this evening with the latest episode of their weekly black-and-gold brand, as NXT TV returns from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

WWE.com released the following preview for tonight’s show, which is the “go-home” show for this Saturday’s milestone NXT TakeOver: XXV live special:

WWE NXT preview, May 29, 2019: Burch & Lorcan battle Forgotten Sons in TakeOver tune-up

On the final stop before NXT TakeOver: XXV this Saturday, Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan and The Forgotten Sons — two of the four teams involved in TakeOver’s NXT Tag Team Championship Ladder Match — will collide in a grudge match. Which pair of bruisers will pick up momentum en route to Saturday’s huge title match?

Brit-Am brawlers to face The Savages of NXT

It will be a hard-hitting affair when Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan battle The Forgotten Sons’ Steve Cutler & Wesley Blake a mere three days before both teams join Undisputed ERA and The Street Profits in a Ladder Match for the vacant NXT Tag Team Titles.

Although all eyes are focused on Saturday’s championship bout, don’t think for one second that either Burch & Lorcan or Cutler & Blake will lose sight of tonight’s clash. Both teams are entering the match with ill will as a result of their numerous run-ins in recent months. And the peril is very real. With a dangerous and high-stakes Ladder Match looming, both teams will aim to walk a fine line, looking to maximize the damage to the other squad while limiting their own exposure.

Will Kushida measure up to 205 Live’s Drew Gulak?

Judging by Drew Gulak’s ringside scouting of Kushida two weeks ago, it’s safe to say 205 Live’s submission specialist has taken an interest in NXT’s latest blockbuster signee, but that doesn’t mean he’s necessarily impressed.

The Philadelphia Stretcher has already disparaged Kushida on social media, describing the Japanese legend as “another overhyped third stringer eating up space.” Kushida’s spotless win-loss record and incredible performances since arriving in NXT suggests otherwise, but that could all change this week when Gulak puts Kushida to the test this week in singles competition. Expect limb-twisting, ligament-tearing submissions aplenty when these two masters of the mat face off.

Mia Yim and Bianca Belair ready for round three

It’s plain to see that Mia Yim and Bianca Belair simply can’t stand each other.

The Head Baddie in Charge and The EST of NXT have thrown down twice on NXT TV, with Belair scoring the win both times. Yet given the controversial way in which Belair scored the pinfall last time — by illegally wrapping her hair braid around the ring rope for added leverage — it should come as no surprise Yim demanded a rematch with her big-talking rival. Will The EST of NXT make it three in a row, or does Yim finally have the brash Belair’s number?

Will Shayna Baszler have a rebuttal for Io Shirai?

NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler got an up-close look at Io Shirai’s fury last week, and it wasn’t pretty. With a Kendo stick in hand, The Genius of the Sky interrupted the Horsewomen’s beatdown of Candice LeRae and sent Baszler, Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir scrambling for cover. Now that Shirai has turned the tables on Baszler, and with their NXT Women’s Title Match at TakeOver: XXV drawing near, how will The Queen of Spades respond?
