Pampero Firpo Dead At Age 89, Daughter Releases Statement On Passing Of Wrestling Legend

The pro wrestling world has lost another legend.

Pampero Firpo, real name Juan Kachmanian, passed away at age 89 on Thursday, January 9th.

Among his wrestling accomplishments, movie fans might recall Firpo from a reference made by Mickey Goldmill, the trainer of Rocky Balboa in the initial” Academy Award Winning “Rocky” film, who spoke about losing out in the headline battles by fighting on the same night that Firpo and boxing legend Jack Dempsey had their infamous showdown.

The cause of death of the pro wrestling legend, who held a number of titles throughout his 33-year career, has not yet been disclosed. His daughter, however, mentioned that he expressed “gratitude and peace for his extraordinary life well-lived.”
