Recent String of High Profile TNA Releases Leads To Backstage Speculation Of Promotion’s Future

— Several TNA employees have been let go over the last week, including some who were very long tenured and the latest that was reported was VP of Marketing, Lou D’Angeli. Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio reported that D’Angeli’s assistant is also gone from the company and speculated on what this could mean for the future of TNA.

— According to Meltzer, with the recent departures, TNA has “no marketing team, no live events team and they have nothing booked after the first weekend (of August)” causing backstage trepidation on where the company is going and that “everyone is kind of waiting.” He added that the wheels sort of went into motion after Scott D’Amore parted ways with TNA earlier this year as it raised a lot of eyebrows backstage.

— Parent company Anthem Sports has been trying aggressively to cut costs as of late and Meltzer speculated that whatever losses TNA had been incurring, it was more than what Anthem was happy with despite the fact that TNA Wrestling on AXS is the top rated show that the media company as a whole owns.
