Two AEW titles could be merged into one in the near future as fightfulselect.com reports that after Kenny Omega won the AEW International title at the recent Revolution PPV, there has been internal discussion of unifying that title with another one. This would come on the heels of AEW retiring the FTW title last year.
The report added that one of the discussions regarding unification would be to blend the International Championship “in some capacity” with the Continental Title that is currently held by Kazuchika Okada.
It was further noted that sources within AEW have stated that combining the two belts has been pitched as far back as a number of months ago and some even considered the idea to be “firm creative plans” but it’s unclear what the exact plan would be – whether one of Omega or Okada would be that unified champion, whether the two titles would be carried together or if a new belt would be launched as a new, unified title.
