Report: Amazon & Disney Appear To Be Top Contenders To Land WWE Smackdown

Who will ultimately secure the television rights for WWE Friday Night SmackDown? The competition is in full swing!

WWE is presently engaged in extensive discussions with various television networks concerning the broadcasting rights for Raw (USA Network) and SmackDown (FOX). These rights are scheduled to expire in 2024.

Reportedly, WWE has concluded its exclusive negotiation period with both the USA Network and FOX, thereby allowing other networks to initiate talks with the company.

According to Dave Meltzer’s report on the latest episode of “Wrestling Observer Radio” at F4WOnline.com, Amazon and Disney have emerged as top contenders in the race to acquire the television rights for WWE Friday Night SmackDown.

The report also suggests that FOX may not be inclined to bid $300 million per year for the weekly two-hour WWE program.

WWE, as per the report, is consistently seeking a substantial increase in the price for both Raw and NXT. Both of these shows are expected to continue airing on the USA Network.
