— With Adam “Edge” Copeland’s WWE contract set to expire in September and the prospects of him re-signing with the company grow slimmer by the day, there is an internal belief within WWE that he is AEW bound, according to a report at pwtorch.com.
— According to the report, Copeland met with WWE and presented to them an offer on what it would take for the promotion to retain his services, however, WWE declined to meet his request which would pretty much lead all roads to free agency for the much decorated superstar. The report added that there is a belief in WWE that he is “probably” headed to AEW and likely knew at the time of the WWE discussions on what AEW could offer him.
— They speculate that this could be based on Edge’s conversations with other wrestlers of similar star power in AEW (as he could not legally negotiate with them while still under WWE contract). Tony Khan has made it be known that he is a huge fan of Edge and would almost surely welcome the possibility of adding him to his team either as a wrestler or in a non-wrestling role. As well, Edge’s real life friend Christian Cage is with AEW so there would be an opportunity to reunite them there for a potential final match.
