— The Observer Newsletter notes that they have heard from several people in WWE that the word from the top is that the company will no longer be scouting the independent scene for talent and that they are leaving that part of the industry to AEW. Instead, they will be gearing their scouting to go after talent with the “looks” and then focusing on teaching them to be wrestlers which is different from the previous methodology of scouting talent who were good workers or over in a different promotion.

— WWE President Nick Khan also alluded to this change in a recent interview when he stated that the company already has had multiple wrestlers from the indies come up through their system and that they “don’t want to just keep doing that same thing” and are now looking “elsewhere” for young talent.
