The Revival

The Revival Drawing Significant Heat for Using Name Already Used By Another Indie Tag Team

— As we previously reported, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood (formerly Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson) have been released from their WWE contracts and are free to sign elsewhere effective immediately. Unfortunately for the duo, they are unable to use the name “The Revival” as it was a term that was introduced (and trademarked) by WWE and a recent video indicated that the team would be going by the name “The Revolt” instead. As it turns out, another tag team out of North Carolina (consisting of Caleb Konley and Zane Riley) have been using that name for upwards of five years, which is interesting since both Wheeler and Hardwood are from the same state and all four actually came up through the ranks knowing each other.

— PWInsider.com reported that there are a lot of people in that region who are upset that Wheeler and Harwood did that to “one of their own”, especially independent wrestlers who had invested a lot of time and money into the name and merchandise. The report also added that perhaps The Revival didn’t know about the name, however, multiple sources note to rajah.com that Wheeler and Harwood did in fact know about it (since they came up together) and that they told the indie wrestlers that was too bad and that they would continue forward using that name and that was that.
