As noted last week, Brian “Road Dogg” James stepped down as co-lead writer for WWE Smackdown, reportedly due to being frustrated. PWInsider.com reports that James was not in Montreal this week for Smackdown Live and that his duties heading up the creative team were fulfilled by Ryan Ward.
As for James’ status with WWE, he is still with the company but is taking an “extended break” while both he and WWE evaluate his situation in order to determine where he fits in moving forward.
There remains no official timetable for his return.
