As noted, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is not expected to appear live at tonight’s RAW Reunion special.
While “The Great One” won’t be appearing in the flesh inside Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, the site of tonight’s big event which airs live on the USA Network, he has been tweeting about WWE the past couple of days.
Ahead of tonight’s RAW Reunion special, “The Brahma Bull” reflected on his triple-threat match against Kurt Angle and The Undertaker from the WWE Vengeance pay-per-view on July 21, 2002.
“Historic WWE match,” wrote “The Great One” in response to a video tweeted out by the official WWE Twitter account.
The Rock continued, “Was just my turn to carry the ‘brass ring’ on this night. Our roster was so deep with big box office drawing [money] talent back then we all took turns at being #1.”
“Very cool [and] unique time in pro wrestling. [Thank you to] Kurt Angle [and] The Undertaker for the ‘dance’. Cheers boys.”
In an extended statement, The Rock also posted this one on his official Instagram page on Sunday:
Cool piece of history — on this day back in 2002.
An epic WWE match.
It was just my turn to carry the ‘brass ring’ on this night.
Our roster was so deep back then with big box office drawing [money] talent we all took turns at being the #1 guy in the company.
Plus we only had one WWE Title so that created a relentless hunger with all of us.
It was a very cool, unique [and] special time in pro wrestling.
Thanks to the best play by play team of all time – Jim Ross & Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler.
Thanks to Kurt Angle & the legendary Undertaker for the dance.
Most of all — thank you to the audience — the ones in the seats — for the electricity and energy — and for continuing to rock with me down this wild and unpredictable road of life.
Cheers.
WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle then replied to the aforementioned tweet by The Rock with the following tweet of his own.
“Thank you [to] The Rock,” wrote Angle. “You always made it fun and entertaining.”
Angle added, “You’re one of the best pure athletes I’ve ever faced. #ItsDamnTrue.”
