Joe Koff Says ROH MSG Show Is Off

ROH Show At MSG Cancelled After Venue Has “Communications From The WWE”

Well, it looks like Ring Of Honor (ROH) isn’t coming to Madison Square Garden (MSG) after all.

This week it was announced that the ROH show that was scheduled to take place at MSG in New York City on the Saturday of WrestleMania 35 weekend next year — April 6, 2019 — has been cancelled following “communications from the WWE.”

The ROH MSG show was initially announced by Sinclair Broadcast Group CEO Chris Ripley during a recent interview with Baltimore Business Journal.

In a new interview with PWInsider.com, ROH COO Joe Koff announced that the ROH MSG show was off and did his best to explain why without creating any legal issues for himself or the promotion.

“I’m not going to discuss beyond this statement because I am not going to litigate this in the press,” Koff said in the interview that was released on Tuesday. “We had a deal with [Madison Square] Garden and they then told us they were backing out after communications from the WWE. We are not able to get any other dates in any kind of discussion.”

Koff continued, “I’m expecting that our lawyers will be contacting all the parties involved and the best we can hope is that we can find a resolution, so we can bring the kind of energy and excitement that ROH and our partner New Japan to a bigger audience and to bigger arenas and to the fans of New York City.”
