Reigns-Pearce Announced For WWE Royal Rumble 2021

Roman Reigns Comments On WWE Confirming Adam Pearce As Universal Title Challenger For Royal Rumble 2021

It’s official — Roman Reigns has his opponent for his Universal Championship defense at the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble 2021 pay-per-view later this month.

Following this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX, it was questioned if Adam Pearce would indeed be the man standing across the squared circle from “The Head of the Table” when WWE’s first PPV event of the New Year of 2021 rolls around on Sunday, January 31st.

Soon after the second edition of the weekly blue brand on FOX show of the New Year went off-the-air on Friday evening, we received our answer.

Yes.

Yes, Adam Pearce WILL be challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at the WWE Royal Rumble 2021 PPV.

WWE.com released the following announcement regarding the addition of Roman Reigns vs. Adam Pearce for the Universal Championship to the upcoming Royal Rumble 2021 PPV on Jan. 31.

Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Adam Pearce

At Royal Rumble, Universal Champion Roman Reigns will go head to head with none other than WWE Official Adam Pearce.

Week after week, Reigns has engineered a steady stream of mayhem on Friday Night SmackDown as The Head of the Table, including most recently attacking Kevin Owens and throwing him off a high ledge and through a table at the WWE ThunderDome on the Jan. 1 edition of the blue brand.

One week after that horrific assault, Reigns called Adam Pearce to the ring to take issue with him making the match between KO and Jey Uso that ended in such unspeakable carnage. Later, Paul Heyman informed Pearce that he had pulled some strings and gotten him added to the Gauntlet Match that the WWE Official had created to determine Reigns’ next challenger at Royal Rumble, a contest pitting Pearce, Rey Mysterio, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura, King Corbin and Daniel Bryan against each other in pursuit of a Universal Title opportunity.

Pearce entered the matchup last ready to go up against Shinsuke Nakamura. But before the contest could begin, Reigns and Uso suddenly attacked The Artist. When Reigns threw Pearce into the ring, the unhinged Jey then superkicked him. When Reigns called for the bell, Uso put Pearce on top Nakamura to give him the Gauntlet Match victory. As a result, Pearce will challenge Reigns for the Universal Championship at Royal Rumble.

Don’t miss Royal Rumble, Sunday, Jan. 31, beginning at 7 ET/4 PT, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network.

Soon after the official announcement was made public by WWE, “The Tribal Chief” took to social media to deliver a message to the man he will be facing off against at the WWE Royal Rumble 2021 PPV on 1/31.

“Congrats suit,” wrote Reigns via his official Twitter page after Friday night’s blue brand show on FOX. “Enjoy your quick trip to the Island of Relevancy. But remember this…You’re only safe when I allow you to be.”
