To say Sami Zayn had an unfavorable reaction to the news of WWE announcing an Intercontinental Championship match between Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles on this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown would be an understatement.
As noted, WWE announced on Thursday that Hardy vs. Styles will take place on this week’s WWE on FOX show, joining segments that include Bayley explaining her attack on Sasha Banks from last week’s show and Bray Wyatt unveiling his “newest creation” on Firefly Fun House.
In response to the announcement, the man who has a claim to the Intercontinental Championship — Sami Zayn — took to social media to respond to the news posted on WWE’s official Twitter feed.
“WHAT?! This is a public slap in the face,” Zayn wrote in response to the tweet on the official WWE Twitter page from Thursday afternoon. “Who posted this?!? Nicky, was it you? Who even authorized this match? Why wasn’t I consulted?”
Zayn continued, “I will make sure this is an exhibition match, not for any fraudulent title. THIS IS BOGUS! DO YOU HEAR ME? I’M CHOKING ON MY OWN RAGE!”
