As seen on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, which was taped on Tuesday afternoon in Glasgow, Scotland, Commissioner Shane McMahon was announced as the replacement for Baron Corbin for Team SmackDown in their scheduled “5-on-5 Traditional Elimination Match” against Team RAW at this month’s joint-brand WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view.
Corbin was “injured” early in the show this week, leaving a spot open on Team SmackDown, which General Manager Daniel Bryan ended up filling by plugging in his work associate, Commissioner Shane McMahon.
After the show aired on Tuesday evening, Shane McMahon took to social media to comment on his second scheduled pay-per-view match since returning to WWE for his WrestleMania 32 showdown with The Undertaker earlier this year.
“The [SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan] got one over on me tonight,” wrote the son of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon on his official Twitter page. “Humbled to be part of the team,” he wrote before concluding, “Go #TeamBlue!”
