Some special measures were taken in order for the announce team of Mauro Ranallo, Beth Phoenix and Tom Phillips to provide commentary for this past Wednesday night’s edition of WWE’s weekly NXT On USA television show.
For the 4/29 NXT show, Beth Phoenix re-joined the commentary team for Wednesday’s show but according to Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio at F4WOnline.com, she recorded her portion of the show from home.
Mauro Ranallo did the same as usual, while Nigel McGuinness remained away and in his place, Tom Phillips subbed in.
Over the last few weeks, it was reported that Phoenix and McGuinness stayed away from traveling due to concerns with quarantining/isolating as they both have younger children at home.
Prowrestlingsheet.com also notes that WWE’s production team was able to accomplish this because NXT announcers don’t appear on-screen as much as Raw and Smackdown commentators do and because the show was taped.
All of this is happening due to the safety precautions the company is taking during the COVID-19 pandemic.
