Surprises At SmackDown 1000 & Mick Foley Planning Big Bump?, Batista

With WWE getting ready to host a huge Smackdown in celebration of 1000 episodes for the show, one past superstar doesn’t appear to be on the guest list. Batista, who was a prominent figure on the show for a number of years, tweeted that despite the event being in his hometown, he wasn’t invited. Of course, this may not confirm his absence as it’s always possible that his tweet could be a way to try and throw off fans, though it’s well documented that Batista and WWE may have had a falling out after he was originally considered for WrestleMania this past April before the company abruptly stopped contact with him. Note that Smackdown 1000 airs on October 16 live from Washington, D.C. despite many outlets reporting it as being on October 23.

According to Justin Barrasso’s latest column with Sports Illustrated, while Mick Foley seems ill placed in the Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman Hell in a Cell match, he was the Raw GM during the initial Reigns/Strowman feud and Foley’s one-man show also debuts immediately after the PPV which would seem like a natural lead-in. Barrasso adds that Foley is in “tremendous shape” and that according to WWE sources, the plan is for him to take “at least one significant bump” at the hands of Strowman.

A recent report suggested that WWE Hall of Famer Edge was scheduled to appear at the upcoming Smackdown 1000 show, however, the former superstar went on Twitter and denied it by saying that it was news to him. Mike Johnson of, who initially reported that Edge would be there, doubled down on his story and still expects him there by suggesting that the public denial is because WWE wants to be the first to officially announce it.
