Tony Khan Comments On Jim Ross Missing Final Weeks Of AEW Dynamite On TNT Before Move To TBS

Jim Ross will be missing even more episodes of AEW programming as he continues his battle with skin cancer.

As noted prior to last night’s AEW Dynamite show going on the air, Tony Khan appeared as a guest on Busted Open Radio for an interview where he announced that “Good Ole’ J.R.” would not be calling the weekly AEW on TNT television program on Wednesday evening.

Khan went on to make the announcement that AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page would be filling in for J.R. on commentary on this week’s show for the Bryan Danielson vs. Alan Angels match.

Additionally, the AEW boss-man mentioned during the appearance how everyone in the company is going to miss J.R. for the next “several weeks,” confirming that he will be missing more shows as Dynamite wraps up their run on TNT with their final handful of shows leading up to the big move to TBS on January 5, 2022.

Featured below is an excerpt from the interview where AEW President Tony Khan comments on Jim Ross’ battle with skin cancer and how it will affect his role as one of the commentators for AEW Dynamite the next “several weeks.”

“Jim [Ross] doesn’t want to just sit back and get these treatments and step away from wrestling. He’s still very much involved even though he’s not going to be calling the show. That’s another thing. For fans who are new to AEW, even though he won’t be in the booth [on Wednesday night’s Dynamite], one thing that has made people feel comfortable, made them feel at home watching wrestling is the voice of J.R. and the voice of Tony Schiavone out there.

“We are all going to miss Jim for the next several weeks very much, but I agree with you guys so much. He adds so much to the matches he calls and the shows he calls. J.R., I think is the greatest voice in wrestling. All of us just want to wish J.R. the best. When I talked to J.R., he thought it would be great to have some of the big stars in AEW fill his chair while he’s out. I think for ‘Hangman’ [Adam] Page to call the Bryan Danielson match will be a fitting tribute.”
