During Friday night’s edition of AEW Dynamite, Willie Urbina made headlines, for all of the wrong reasons, when he was caught making fun of Hikaru Shida. The Spanish announcer mocked Asian accents, after Shida cut a promo. Dasha Kuret, as well as Thunder Rosa, also sat in on commentary, as Willie went left.

At the AEW Double or Nothing post-show media session, AEW President Tony Khan shared his reaction to the incident, stating:

“I didn’t think there was any excuse. I was not happy. Afterwards, I heard what was said and having our commentators involved with what was said about her, who I also apologized to, I thought it was best for the company to make this decision.”

Willie Urbina has since been relieved of his duties.
