Tony Khan Wanted WWE to Mention AEW on Raw in Exchange for Billy Gunn Appearance

– WWE recently celebrated 25 years of D-Generation X by having a reunion of sorts on Monday Night Raw. Apart from the late Joanie “Chyna” Laurer, only Billy Gunn was missing as he is currently employed by AEW. On his podcast, Brian “Road Dogg” James noted that everyone was under the impression that Gunn would be there and it was only revealed shortly before the episode that it wasn’t going to happen.

– In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has more details on what happened, or didn’t happen, that day. According to the report, it was never a monetary dispute that prevented Gunn’s appearance from happening as WWE never offered money to AEW and Tony Khan never asked for any. Instead, Khan insisted that if Gunn was going to be on TV, that AEW had to be mentioned in some fashion – whether he be introduced as an AEW employee or a line that indicated that AEW allowed him to appear. WWE stalled on their answer and then at the last minute declined to agree to those terms and so Gunn never appeared.
