Flashback Friday: Bruno Sammartino Lineup

Triple H On Bruno Sammartino: “He Set The Standard For What It Means To Be A WWE Superstar”

Bruno Sammartino is one of the original legends from WWE’s past.

The former longtime title-holder of the company dating back to when it was the Northeastern territory ran by Vince McMahon’s father, Vince McMahon Sr., would have turned 87 years old on Thursday, October 6, 2022.

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who was instrumental in bridging the gap between Sammartino and McMahon, which ultimately led to the WWE Hall of Fame induction of the iconic Italian performer, surfaced on social media to share a statement on the wrestling legend.

“Bruno Sammartino set the standard for what it means to be a WWE Superstar,” wrote Sammartino. “One of the toughest competitors to ever step into the ring, a legendary champion and a true friend.”

Levesque added, “We remember Bruno today on what would have been his 87th birthday.”
